Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. Many people assume that if they don’t have a family history of breast cancer, they are not at risk. In fact, the two most common risk factors for breast cancer are 1) being a woman and 2) getting older. At Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, our goal is to ensure that women get their mammograms every year starting at age 40 (or earlier in some cases) and to catch suspicious areas before they can be felt on an exam.
As an Accredited Facility for Mammography designated by the American College of Radiology, our Imaging Department has been designed to meet your needs in the most comfortable setting possible. We offer a full complement of imaging services for women, including:
- Digital mammography with CAD (computer aided detection), using breast pads for added comfort
- Breast cancer risk assessment
- Breast ultrasound
- Minimally-invasive image guided biopsy and aspiration
- Stereotactic breast biopsy
- Breast MRI
- Bone density
Our fellowship-trained breast imaging radiologist and staff at SRMC guide you through the entire process. We will assist in obtaining outside prior studies, discuss results and, if need be, schedule follow-up appointments for further exams or evaluations. Our nurse navigator works with you every step of the way, answering your questions and providing support through it all.
