Fredericksburg, VA (February 7, 2020) - Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC) has expanded its medical staff to include Rappahannock Women’s Health Center and Central Virginia OBGYN.

More women in the Fredericksburg region will now have access to Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center’s family-centered approach to maternal and neonatal care, through their labor and delivery unit and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

“Rappahannock Women’s Health Center is committed to providing the best possible experience for our patients,” said Dr. Jae Kil. “We are excited to be joining the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center team and provide our patients with access to their expert staff and beautiful women’s unit.”

Dr. Joon Kil of Central Virginia OBGYN adds, “We’re thrilled to offer another option for delivery to women in the Fredericksburg area. We’re confident the team at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center will enhance our patients’ birth experience through their compassionate care, advanced technology, and community resources.”

To meet the needs of this growing patient population, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center has increased the number of OB tours and classes offered. New patients are encouraged to go to spotsrmc.com/calendar or call 1-888-685-1610 to schedule a free tour of the facility and meet the team that will play a role in their birth experience. This online resource also provides a listing of free classes such as Labor Basics, Labor Express, Breastfeeding Basics, and Baby Basics to help prepare families for their new baby.

Additionally, in October 2019 SRMC opened an obstetrics (OB) emergency department, a separate triage and care space that allows for a dedicated, specialized staff to be available for women who are expecting and in need of emergent care. With the opening of the OB emergency department, the hospital also launched its OB hospitalist program that ensures that specialty trained OB physicians are on site 24/7.

“As our community grows, our experienced staff is committed to delivering the highest quality care through our women’s and children’s services,” said David McKnight, chief executive officer of Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. “We are thrilled to welcome our new active medical staff and their patients to the hospital.”
