Vestex™ lab coats to be worn by physicians at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center

Fredericksburg, VA, May 27, 2010 - Vestagen Technical Textiles today announced that Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in Fredericksburg, Va., purchased Vestex™ nanotechnology-based lab coats for its entire medical staff. The new, general acute care hospital is part of the HCA Virginia Health System. It opened its doors on June 7 with the most advanced technology – from its operating rooms to its cardiac catheterization capabilities to its uniforms.

"We are pleased to serve our community by opening Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center," said Tim Tobin, CEO at SRMC. "As with all of HCA Virginia's institutions, we are committed to clinical excellence and innovation. Accordingly, our hospital will have the most advanced technology, even down to our uniforms. All of SRMC's staff will wear Vestex lab coats, which are the latest innovation in medical apparel for protecting our patients, staff and the community."

Vestex garments repel blood and other bodily fluids, and rapidly kill microbes. Vestex is impregnated with nano-sized particles that change the surface area of the fabric, increasing surface tension and creating a barrier to fluids such as blood and body fluids. After the repellency feature sheds bulk contaminants, the antimicrobial technology rapidly protects the garments from microbes. Additionally, Vestex wicks away moisture and minimizes odors to keep the wearer clean, cool and dry.

"The HCA is highly regarded as a national leader in health care services," said Ben Favret, Vestagen's president and CEO. "Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center is clearly demonstrating its commitment to patients, medical staff and the community with the use of Vestex."

In addition to lab coats, Vestex manufactures scrub tops, scrub pants, protective gowns and long-sleeved T-shirts. Individual orders can be completed online at www.vextexprotects.com.
