New HCA Virginia Hospital to Implement Advanced Technology Textiles

Vestex™ lab coats to be worn by physicians at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center
Fredericksburg, VA, May 27, 2010 - Vestagen Technical Textiles today announced that Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in Fredericksburg, Va., purchased Vestex™ nanotechnology-based lab coats for its entire medical staff. The new, general acute care hospital is part of the HCA Virginia Health System. It opened its doors on June 7 with the most advanced technology – from its operating rooms to its cardiac catheterization capabilities to its uniforms.

Vestex garments repel blood and other bodily fluids, and rapidly kill microbes. Vestex is impregnated with nano-sized particles that change the surface area of the fabric, increasing surface tension and creating a barrier to fluids such as blood and body fluids. After the repellency feature sheds bulk contaminants, the antimicrobial technology rapidly protects the garments from microbes. Additionally, Vestex wicks away moisture and minimizes odors to keep the wearer clean, cool and dry.
